A Food Adventure for Curious Kids

Play. Learn. Discover how food connects us all.

What if learning about food could be as exciting as playing a game?

Welcome to Roodi Food Snakes & Ladders — a free educational game for children that turns familiar board-game fun into an adventure of food discovery.

Climb ladders, watch out for snakes, explore traditional foods and discover how the choices we make connect us with our bodies, our farmers, our environment and our society.

Every square is an opportunity to discover something new.

More Than a Game. A Beginning.

Children learn so much about the world through play. A game can make them curious, help them ask questions and introduce ideas that stay with them long after the game ends.

We created this game because we believe food education should begin early.

Food is often discussed in terms of taste, convenience and what we like or dislike. But there is a much bigger story behind every meal: where food comes from, how it is grown, how it is processed, the traditions behind it and the choices available to us.

We want children to begin discovering that story for themselves.

This game introduces ideas about traditional foods, millets, food processing, cooking practices and everyday food choices in a way children can explore and discuss.

Our intention is not to make children afraid of food. It is to encourage curiosity, awareness and thoughtful conversations about what we eat.

Because the earlier we begin asking meaningful questions, the more opportunity we have to learn together.

What Will Children Discover?

Traditional foods and forgotten wisdom

Explore traditional grains such as millets and discover why foods that have sustained communities for generations deserve our attention.

How food is made

Begin noticing the differences between traditional preparation methods, less-refined foods and highly processed alternatives.

Food, nature and farming

Discover the connection between what reaches our plates and the soil, water, plants, animals and people involved in producing it.

Choices that shape our future

Start conversations about everyday food habits and how our choices can influence our families, communities and the world around us.

Every child will take away something different. That is part of the adventure.

Parents and Teachers: Play Along

The best learning may begin when the game is over.

Play with your children. Let them explain what they see. Give them space to question, disagree and explore. You do not need to turn every move into a lesson.

Here are a few simple questions to start a conversation:

  • Which food or lesson surprised you the most?
  • Have you seen or eaten this food at home?
  • Where do you think it comes from, and who grows or prepares it?
  • What did you learn that you would like to explore further?

You can also connect the game to real life: visit a local market, look at different grains in the kitchen, talk to a farmer or ask grandparents about foods they grew up eating.

The goal is not simply to finish the board. It is to keep the curiosity alive.

This game is an educational conversation starter, not individual medical or dietary advice. Food needs and circumstances can differ from one person and family to another.

Why Roodi Food Created This Game

At Roodi Food, we believe food is much more than a product to buy and consume.

Food connects our bodies to the earth. It connects farmers to families, traditions to future generations, and individual choices to the wider society we create together.

Yet food education is not always given the attention it deserves, especially during childhood.

We wanted to create something that could help children think about food in a different way — something enjoyable, accessible and easy to share.

This game is one small step towards that vision.

We believe a better food culture begins not merely by telling people what to eat, but by helping them understand food more deeply.

Food Builds Society.

What we eat matters. What we grow matters. What we teach the next generation matters, too.

Our broader philosophy is rooted in the belief that good food, care for nature and honest education can contribute to a better future.

This Is Just the Beginning!

We dream of creating more engaging, beautiful and educational games that help children understand food, nature and healthy living through the joy of play.

This is our first step.

As children play, parents share their thoughts and teachers introduce the game to their classrooms, we hope to learn what works, improve the experience and develop more educational games and resources.

Your feedback will help us understand what children enjoy, what confuses them and what they would love to discover next.

We want to build something that is genuinely useful — not simply something that attracts clicks.

Have an idea for the next game? We would love to hear it.

Let’s Bring Food Education Into Our Communities

A small conversation can begin a big change.

Food is part of everyone’s life. Yet how often do we come together to discuss what we eat, where our food comes from, how it is produced and how our food choices shape our lives and society?

We believe these conversations deserve more space in our homes, schools, colleges, institutions and communities.

At Roodi Food, we take food education seriously. We want it to go beyond a website, a product or a game. We want to encourage people to come together, learn from one another, ask questions and explore the importance of food with sincerity and an open mind.

You can help make this happen.

  • Organise a small food discussion: Bring together a few friends, families or neighbours for a meaningful conversation about food and our everyday choices.
  • Arrange a seminar or awareness session: Introduce food education in your school, college, workplace, institution or community organisation.
  • Bring food conversations into satsangs and community gatherings: Create space to reflect on the connection between food, nature, health, traditional wisdom and the society we build.
  • Start a local food-awareness group: Meet regularly, exchange knowledge, explore traditional foods and learn together.
  • Involve children and families: Use educational games, practical demonstrations and everyday food experiences to make learning engaging and accessible.

You do not need a large audience, a grand venue or an elaborate programme to begin. A sincere conversation among a handful of people can be a meaningful first step.

Let’s Work Together

If you would like to organise a discussion, seminar, satsang session or other food-education activity, get in touch with the Roodi Food team.

Tell us your idea, your proposed audience and what you hope to explore. We will discuss how we can support the initiative and help make it meaningful.

We welcome people who are willing to take food education beyond words and into their communities.

Don’t wait for someone else to start the conversation. You can begin it.

Help Us Take This Further

A meaningful educational initiative grows when people who believe in it come together.

You do not have to do everything. Even a small action can help this game reach a child who might benefit from it.

Share the game.

Send it to parents, grandparents, teachers, schools and friends. Help more children discover the joy of learning through play.

Bring it to your community.

Introduce the game to a school, children’s group, community organisation or educator who may find it useful.

Contribute your ideas and skills.

We welcome thoughtful feedback and collaboration from people who care about children’s learning, food awareness, design, technology and education.

Support the development of future games.

Creating and improving educational games takes time, illustrations, animation, software development, sound, testing and outreach. If this initiative resonates with you, you can also explore providing voluntary financial support towards its development.

Before you contribute, we will clearly explain the intended use of the funds and the nature of the arrangement.

Roodi Food is a commercial business. Financial contributions to Roodi Food should not be assumed to be tax-deductible charitable donations. Contributions towards game development do not, by themselves, confer ownership or promise a financial return.

For individuals or organisations interested in a larger, mission-aligned funding or business partnership, we welcome a separate conversation about an appropriate and properly documented arrangement.

With Gratitude for the Wisdom of Traditional Foods

Our exploration of traditional foods and Siridhanya millets has been inspired in part by the work of Dr. Khadar Vali, who has helped bring renewed attention to these traditional grains and the food knowledge surrounding them.

We are grateful for that inspiration and for the wider conversation about traditional food systems, agriculture and our relationship with nature.

This acknowledgement expresses our gratitude and does not imply that Dr. Khadar Vali has reviewed or endorsed this game.

We hope to do our part by helping the next generation become more curious about food, more aware of its origins and more thoughtful about the world they inherit.

Food Builds Us. We Build Society.

Imagine a generation of children who grow up asking where their food comes from, caring about the people who grow it, respecting nature and thinking carefully about the choices before them.

We believe that is a future worth working towards.

This game is a small beginning. With your encouragement, feedback and support, we hope to take the journey further.

Play the game. Share the learning. Help the next generation grow in awareness.

Food Builds Society — from soil to soul, one child at a time.
